Outline<\/h3>\n

How can we implement Learning Spaces capable of supporting active learning based education? How can we use Learning Analytics to make sense of learning log data and improve as educators? In recent years, these two themes have started to receive attention all around the globe. Here in Japan as well, efforts have been made to implement both \u201cLearning Spaces\u201d and \u201cLearning Analytics\u201d at a practical level. Thus, in this seminar, John Augeri (Paris Ile-de-France Digital University\/Sophia University) will discuss international trends in Learning Spaces, based on his survey of Learning Spaces at various universities all around the globe. Additionally, Tomohiro Nagashima (Carnegie Mellon University) will use his experience with Online Education (MOOC, e-learning) and Online Educational Resource (OER) development, as well as examples from his own research, in order to introduce both international trends in Learning Analytics and the tools and methods needed to research this topic. We warmly welcome anyone interested in these topics to participate in this seminar with us. In addition, the situation of this seminar will be distributed live via internet (without simultaneous interpretation).<\/p>\n

\u25a0 John Augeri<\/strong><\/span>
\nJohn Augeri is an international specialist of Learning Spaces and has been managing a cross-continental comparative study since 2016. He is the deputy Director of the Paris Ile-de-France Digital University, and is acting in several international workgroups, such as the Educause Learning Space Community Group, and the FLEXspace Learning Spaces online repository. He is also juror for the Association for Learning Environment Award, and a member of the experts panel for the Horizon Higher Education report.\u3000John has been invited more than 60 times to give talks and keynote sessions about the international state of Learning Spaces during the last three years at locations all around the globe. He regularly acts as advisor for large scale Learning Spaces projects in the USA, Japan, Europe, Australia and Singapore.\u3000He has been invited five times as a visiting researcher in Japan, specifically at Kyoto University and The University of Tokyo, and is currently staying at Sophia University.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 Tomohiro Nagashima<\/span><\/strong>
\nTomohiro Nagashima graduated from the International Christian University before receiving his master\u2019s degree from Stanford University. He is currently a doctoral student at Carnegie Mellon University Human-Computer Interaction Institute He is also a member of Creative Commons Japan (Non-profit organization \u2018Commonsphere\u2019). His areas of specialty include learning sciences and educational engineering. He has experience researching \u2013 as well as practically implementing – online education and open education resources (OER).<\/p>\n
